Is there any way to set the default launcher to something like nova in Fire OS 5.3.1. So while the device was really cheap and makes a study enough impression considering its cheap price, I can't really use it because the Fire Launcher home screen is bloated with apps I don't need, and some of the apps I want are plainly missing from the amazon app store.
Every time I hit the home button, the Fire Launcher starts, and the option to set the default launcher in Nova just directs me to the kindle settings, where no default app settings are to be found. However, I can't find a way to set Nova Launcher as the default launcher. I managed to install the Nova Launcher apk by copying it directly onto the Fire and allowing unsigned apps. While it seems that at this point there is no known method to downgrade to an earlier version of Fire OS, nor root without bricking the device, I tried to make do with what is available. Light, fast, stable, and at the same time highly customizable: these are the strengths of Nova launcher, available in free version with some limitations, but if you want to reward the developers you can buy the full version unlock additional features. I just got a used but near mint condition Kindle Fire 7 5th generation which unfortunately came with Fire OS 5.3.1.0. It is the best launcher in its field it gives a style look AOSP to your Android device.
